She Lied. Say It.

So far, no one in the mainstream media ( MSM ) wants to say it. Hillary lied. Her statement:

During a speech last week in Washington, she said, ``I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.''

If that NEVER happened in Bosnia or anywhere else. That's not an embellishment or a misstatement. It's a lie.

Merriam-Webster.com defines a lie this way:

1 a: an assertion of something known or believed by the speaker to be untrue with intent to deceive b: an untrue or inaccurate statement that may or may not be believed true by the speaker2: something that misleads or deceives3: a charge of lying.

There's no way around it. She LIED. Only in politics is a lie a misstatement. In real life, it's a LIE.

Her saying that she "misspoke" is also a lie.

Makes me wonder what other statements that she made were also Lie's. Remember Whitewater?

CNN Sensationalism

I saw CNN this morning, at lunch and then when I got home from work during the evening. I usually don't watch CNN but it's one of the channels I get in HD so it's a better picture to look at than a standard definition picture. Anyway, in each instance, their lead story was always the new death count in Iraq, which now stands at 4000. For one thing, I am offended how often they felt the need to remind us all how many have lost their lives in this war. Secondly, their attempt at persuasion for withdrawal can only work on those people who are non-thinkers. I'll explain more about non-thinkers in a later post. But just to make the quick point, the US forces lost 6603 men on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Are we such a soft country now that losing less than 1000 men per year since the war began should cause us to want to quit? What would the men and women of the 1940's think of us now? I'm ashamed for how squeamish we've become at the loss of a soldier. Men have fought and died for freedom in the country since before it's founding. It's what we do. If we did not do it, it wouldn't get done.

New York Times Endorsement

I love picking apart the times and it's reporting or lack thereof. I also love editorials that get it wrong. The Time's endorsed McCain and Clinton before the New York state primary. If Obama wins the nomination, will McCain get the lone endorsement since the NYT decided early on not to endorse Obama? You and I both know the answer to that one.

A $250,000 Vote

Interesting that in the Final Tally in the 03/24/08 issue os Sports Illustrated, 69 of the 95 NBA players polled either chose Obama or Clinton as their presidential choice. According to Wikipedia, the average NBA salary is $5.356 million per year. If either Obama or Clinton is elected and has their way in rescinding the Bush tax cuts of 2001, the average NBA player will see a near $250,000 increase in their tax liability. I'm curious to know what the poll results would be if the players knew what their new tax liability would be under their current candidate of choice.
